Lewin’s model
Lewin specifically considers a three-stage process of managing change:
- Unfreezing
- Changing
- Re-freezing
Unfreezing:
- Unfreezing is about encouraging people think about the current situation and helping them recognise the need for change
Changing:
- The second stage requires organising and mobilising the resources required to bring about the change
- Analysing the alternative options
- Selecting the change
- Planning the change
- Empowering the staff
Re-freezing:
- The third stage involves embedding the new ways of working into the organisation.
